Copper reduces T&D losses better than aluminium
The government's decision to allow the use of copper in distribution
transformers (DTs) has resulted in a substantial jump in the consumption
of copper in DTs. States like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya
Pradesh, which were earlier using aluminium windings, have now switched
over to copper windings for all new requirements of DTs.
